Jimmy Fallon Apologizes For Blackface Sketch On ‘SNL’ In 2000

Jimmy Fallon is tending to his pantomime of Chris Rock in a “Saturday Night Live” sketch from 20 years back in which he showed up in blackface. Fallon gave a statement of regret after video and analysis of the sketch, which initially circulated on “SNL” in 2000, reemerged via web-based networking media. Fallon was a cast part on “Saturday Night Live” from 1998 to 2004. Rock featured on “SNL” from 1990 to 1993. In the sketch, Fallon showed up as Rock on a syndicated program facilitated by Regis Philbin (played by Darrell Hammond).

Fallon wrote in a tweet: “While on SNL, I made a terrible decision to do an impersonation of Chris Rock while in blackface. There is no excuse for this. I am very sorry for making this unquestionably offensive decision and thank all of you for holding me accountable.”
